Microneedling / DermaFrac
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves the use of a device with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. The purpose of microneedling is to stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process, leading to the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins essential for maintaining the skin’s structure and elasticity.
DermaFrac is epidermal Microneedling Infusion Therapy which is an advanced aesthetic treatment used to target many skin concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, brown spots and pigmentation, open pores, congested skin, mild acne scarring, and dry and dehydrated skin. It involves microneedling, infusion of customized serums, and LED therapy to improve skin texture, hydration, and overall appearance.
Benefits of Microneedling
×
- Collagen Stimulation: Microneedling promotes the production of collagen and elastin, improving skin elasticity and firmness.
- Wrinkle Reduction: The procedure can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Scar Improvement: Microneedling is used to diminish the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks.
- Texture and Tone: It helps improve overall skin texture and tone, making the skin appear smoother and more youthful.
- Minimally Invasive: Microneedling is considered a minimally invasive procedure with a shorter recovery time compared to more aggressive treatments.
Microneedling can be performed every 4-6 weeks until desired results are achieved.
Overview of the treatment:
Micro-Needling: The treatment begins with micro-needling, a process that uses a handheld device with very fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This stimulates the natural healing process and promotes the production of collagen and elastin.
Serum Infusion: Following micro-needling, a selection of serums is applied to the skin. These serums can be customized based on the specific skincare concerns of the individual. Commonly infused ingredients include hyaluronic acid for hydration, peptides for collagen stimulation, and growth factors for skin regeneration.
Vacuum-Assisted Simultaneous Serum Infusion: A vacuum-assisted handpiece is used to enhance serum penetration into the micro-channels created by the micro-needling. This ensures that the serums are effectively delivered to the deeper layers of the skin.
LED Therapy: LED (Light Emitting Diode) therapy is often incorporated into the DermaFrac treatment. Different LED colors have specific benefits for the skin, such as reducing inflammation, promoting collagen production, and improving overall skin tone.

How to prepare for your treatment:
- Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks before treatment. Use sunscreen with a high SPF to protect your skin.
- Discontinue the use of certain skincare products, including retinoids, at least one week before the procedure.
- Inform your provider about any medications you are taking, and follow their recommendations regarding the use of specific medications before the treatment. If you are taking blood-thinning medication, then you may need to temporarily stop taking it for one to three days before the appointment
- Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment to keep your skin well-hydrated. We typically recommend clients drink pedialyte or another form of electrolytes two weeks prior to treatment. This will help keep your body hydrated and help with results
- Maintain a balanced diet with a focus on fruits, vegetables, and foods rich in vitamins and antioxidants to support skin health.
- Keep your skin clean and well-moisturized leading up to the treatment day.
- Arrive at your appointment with a clean face, free of makeup, lotions, or other skincare products.
For all face treatments we take photos. This is to track the progress of the treatment.
After Care:
- Protect your skin from direct sun exposure for at least a few days after the procedure. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, and avoid prolonged sun exposure.
- Cleanse your face with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser. Avoid using harsh or exfoliating cleansers for a few days.
- Keep your skin well-hydrated by applying a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer. This helps soothe the skin and aids in the healing process.
- Refrain from using skincare products that contain harsh ingredients, such as retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) for a few days after microneedling.
- Avoid applying makeup for at least 24 hours after the procedure. This allows the micro-injuries to heal without potential irritation from cosmetic products.
- Stay away from activities that involve prolonged exposure to heat, such as sunbathing or saunas, for a few days post-treatment.
- If peeling occurs, be patient and allow the process to happen naturally. Do not force or pick at peeling skin, as this can lead to scarring.
- Avoid intense exercise and activities that cause excessive sweating for at least 24–48 hours after microneedling.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, as adequate hydration supports the skin’s natural healing process.
- Introduce your regular skincare products gradually, especially if they contain active ingredients. Consult with your provider before resuming the use of products like retinoids or exfoliating acids.
