How to prepare for your treatment:
- Protect your hands from excessive sun exposure in the weeks (2 weeks) leading up to the procedure. Sunscreen with at least SPF 30 is crucial to prevent sun damage, as laser treatments can make the skin more sensitive.
- Avoid using harsh skincare products on your hands in the days leading up to the procedure (1 week). This includes products containing retinoids or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs).
- Keep your skin well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Hydrated skin tends to respond better to cosmetic procedures. We usually recommend clients to start drinking pedialyte or another form of electrolytes two weeks prior to treatment to help keep the body hydrated. The more hydrated your body is, the better results you will have!
After Care:
- Sun protection is essential. Keep your hands shielded from direct sunlight for at least a few weeks after the procedure. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, and if possible, wear protective clothing.
- Refrain from exposing your hands to hot water, such as hot baths or showers, for a few days after the procedure. Stick to lukewarm water during this time.
- Cleanse your hands gently using a mild, fragrance-free soap. Avoid harsh cleansers that may irritate the treated skin.
- Keep your hands well-moisturized using a hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic moisturizer. This helps soothe the skin and aids in the healing process.
- Avoid using products that may irritate the skin, such as perfumes, harsh chemicals, or exfoliants, on the treated area.
