Understanding Vascular Lesions

Reclaim Clear, Radiant Skin

Vascular lesions are abnormalities in the blood vessels that can manifest as visible red or purple marks on the skin. Common types include hemangiomas, spider veins, and telangiectasia. Our laser removal services are designed to target and diminish these vascular irregularities. The amount of sessions required varies from patient. Some lesions might only need 1 session and some lesions might need a minimum of 3 sessions.

Say goodbye to vascular lesions and embrace clearer, more even-toned skin with our Laser Removal Services at Bare Body Laser Spa. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and take the first step toward achieving flawless, radiant skin.

How To Prepare For The Appointment:

  • Preparing for vascular lesion laser removal involves a few steps to ensure the procedure’s effectiveness and your safety. Here’s a guide on how to prepare for vascular lesion laser removal:

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds in the weeks leading up to your laser removal appointment. Sunburn or tan skin can increase the risk of complications and interfere with the effectiveness of the laser.

  • Some medications can increase the risk of complications or interfere with the laser treatment. Inform your specialist about any medications you are taking, including blood thinners, as they may need to be adjusted before the procedure.

  • Avoid using skincare products that may irritate the skin in the treatment area. This includes products containing retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). Your provider will advise you on a suitable skincare routine leading up to the procedure.

  • Maintain good hydration in the days leading up to the procedure. Well-hydrated skin tends to respond better to laser treatments.

  • If the vascular lesions are in an area with hair, we may recommend shaving the treatment area before the procedure. This ensures that the laser can directly target the vascular lesions without interference from hair.

After Care

  • Perivascular edema and erythema should be expected immediately after the session lasting 5-15 minutes.

  • Petechiae and/or bruising over the treated telangiectasias can be expected to last 7 to 15 days.

  • Apply Arnica cream/gel over the treated area with a gently massage, 2-3 times a day as to improve the appearance of petechiae. An aloe vera-based gel can be used to sooth the skin.

  • Can apply hydrocortisone 1% BID for 3-5 days post in higher Fitzpatrick phototype patients to avoid PIH.

  • Recommend elastic bandaging (e.g., ace wraps) for 3 days after the initial treatment for better results.

  • Keep the treated area protected from sun exposure. Use sunscreen with at least SPF 30, and if possible, avoid direct sunlight for a few weeks after the procedure.

  • Avoid hot baths, hot tubs, and saunas for a few days after the procedure. Stick to lukewarm water when showering, and pat the treated area dry gently.

  • Cleanse the treated area with a mild, fragrance-free soap. Avoid harsh cleansers or exfoliants that could irritate the skin.

  • Apply a gentle, hypoallergenic moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. This helps in the healing process and minimizes the risk of scarring.

  • If there is any swelling or discomfort, you can apply cold compresses wrapped in a clean cloth to the treated area. This can help reduce inflammation.

  • Avoid using skincare products that contain alcohol, retinoids, or strong acids on the treated area for a week.. Stick to gentle and non-irritating products.
